On the 29th of August, 25 planespotters were allowed to go airside at Brussels Airport (BRU/EBBR) for the 2016 Spotters Day, the second event of this type celebrated at this airport. Everyone who wanted to attend had to take part on an online contest. One of the lucky winners was me... ;) The spotters day started at 4 PM and ended at 8 PM. At 4 PM sharp, all participants were gathered at a restaurant inside the departures hall and were given an accreditation badge and a fluorescent vest. Ear plugs were also available on request. To start off, we were guided through the connector to a waiting area. Upon passing security screening, two groups were made, and took turns in visiting the "Stand and Gate Allocation" facility. Solar Impulse 2 touched down on runway 27 at Seville at 7:38 LT the 23th of June, thus completing the first Atlantic crossing with a solar-powered aircraft, escorted by two Spanish Air Force Eurofighters and the Spanish "Patrulla Águila" aerobatic team. Bertrand Piccard was the pilot for the New York to Seville segment, which was one of the longest flights of the world tour, lasting over 70 hours. Ala 15 (15th Wing, SpAF) hosted NATO Tiger Meet at Zaragoza, from the 16th of May until the 27th of May of 2016. As each year, a spotter day was celebrated during this event, plus a "doors open day" at Zaragoza airbase, where the public was allowed to enter and see some static aircraft and a flying display. The inaugural Cathay Pacific flight to Madrid touched down earlier today. B-KQE operated the inaugural Cathay Pacific flight to Madrid. Flight CX315 (and return flight to Hong Kong CX320) will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft four times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Currently, this is the only nonstop flight from Madrid to Hong Kong, and becomes the 10th European destination in Cathay Pacific's network. Earlier today the first TAM A350 visited Madrid Barajas, becoming the first commercial A350 to land at this airport. TAM's first A350 approaching Barajas. The A350 will replace the 777 four times a week, then will fly the GRU-MAD-GRU route daily, operating flights JJ8064 and JJ8065. More precise information on the TAM A350 service to Madrid from  airlineroute.net : From 04APR16, the A350 will be operating 4 times a week (Day x357 from GRU, Day x146 from MAD), replacing 777-300ER. By 21MAY16, the A350 will be operating on daily basis. JJ8064 GRU2255 – 1350+1MAD 350 D JJ8065 MAD2355 – 0525+1GRU 350 D Next A350 scheduled to fly into Madrid will probably be that of Iberia.

Paine Field  (PAE, KPAE) is an airport located in Snohomish County, Washington. There are three runways at this airport, 16R/34L, 16L/34R and 11/29. The last runway mentioned is not operative as Boeing is leasing it to park some of their aircraft. KPAE is mostly known for the Boeing Everett Factory, which is located near the airfield. Runway 11/29  As a visitor, there are quite some things to see at this airport. Here 's a small map showing all the attractions available at Paine Field.  An "Aviation Day" will be hosted the 21st of May, which will include static and flying aircraft displays, entrance to the Flying Heritage Collection  and the Historic Flight Fundation , plus many more things. More info here . Paine Field is a wonderful place for any avgeek, it's highly recommendable to go at least once. Air Europa has finally taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, becoming the first 787 to be registered at Spain (EC-MIG). It will be deployed on flights to Tenerife North until April 1st. SP-LRF, the Boeing 787-8 currently used by Air Europa for flights to Miami will be returned to LOT Polish Airlines later this month. The LOT Boeing 787-8 operated by Air Europa on Madrid-Miami flights EC-MIG touched down at Madrid Barajas airport at 10:20 LT after performing a low pass over runway 32L, and was greeted by the airport fire sevices upon arrival to its parking position. This is one of the four 787-8 Air Europa is scheduled to recieve during 2016, the next one being EC-MIH.
